Juilliard’s new music ensemble performs the esteemed and prolific composer Elliot Carter’s last orchestral work, Instances, composed shortly before he died at the remarkable age of 103 in 2012. The program, led by Jeffrey Milarsky, also includes Arlene Sierra’s Game of Attrition, a piece inspired by game theory and evolution, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic for chamber orchestra, and works by Ruth Crawford Seeger and John Adams.
